regular mail on saturdays, that's it. at least come august. the head of the u.s. postal service says that will be the new normal starting at the end of the summer. officials tell us the agency is losing $25 million a day. it had to do something. here is what they say it will mean for all of us. you will not get first class mail like letters or birthday cards on saturdays. you will still get packages, priority mail, express mail and medicine. post offices now open on saturdays will be open on saturdays but po boxes will still get regular mail on saturdays. the post master general says his research shows 70% of americans are okay with this. >> the choice is either change some of the service or raise prices. and people don't want prices raised will make the changes in service. >> but the head of the letter carrier's union calls this a disastrous idea that will hurt millions of customers it would be particularly harmful to small businesses, rural communities, the elderly, the disabled and others who depend on saturday delivery for commerce and communication. gerri willis from the fox bus

against u.s. citizens. the white house is expected to stay ahead of that controversy. last night the administration acknowledged it would give congressional committee members access to classified documents that outline the government's stance on drone strikes against suspected terrorists who are also american citizens. the report will be in the hands of those lawmakers just hours before john brennan's confirmation hearing begins, and he will be the one today who's answering questions about the legality of killing americans who are believed to be senior al qaeda leaders such as the american-bern cleric anwar al awlaki who was killed in a 2010 drone strike. critics say the strikes violate the law. >> we have a president who is doing something that even president bush didn't do which is to order the killing of the united states citizen without clear evidence of an immediate attack. >> on wednesday the white house defended the program. >> the methods that we use are designed specifically to avoid civilian casualties. i think it's fair to say that far fewer

if the u.s. government is going to continue executing u.s. citizens with drone strikes there need to be some checks and balances in place to make sure the american being targeted is really associated with al qaeda and really can not be captured. to minimize the possibility of a lethal operation against an innocent person and the senate intelligence committee chair, senator dianne feinstein, says she thinks there will soon be a quote, new day of transparency? >> at one point it was a limited covert program. now everybody knows about it and i think we need to see that this program is really run according to the american constitution and according to law. >> reporter: brennan said yesterday he never believed it is better to kill a terrorist than to detain one for intelligence-gathering purposes. he also offered a new position on enhanced interrogation. in 2007 he said it saved lives but yesterday he said he personally objected to techniques like waterboarding when he was with the cia but never tried to prevent them because they were being used in a different part of the agency. rick?

if it suspects those americans are senior al qaeda operative aiming to kill other u.s. citizens if they cannot be captured and if they, quote, pose an imminent threat of attack. they can just kill american citizens. the document reportedly does not clarify exactly what defines an imminent threat. remember back in 2011, the feds said a drone strike took out the american born cleric awlaki, the first u.s. citizen we know the government killed. he was linked to plots against the united states so they killed him. katherine is live in washington. so we're clear, they can kill an american citizen with a drone, no lawyer, no charges, no conviction. >> no nothing. >> shepard: nothing. >> okay. that's at the heart of this. it's an executive branch assessment of whether an american citizen is an al qaeda leader and whether they pose an imminent threat. when fox news asked the attorney general to explain the difference between an imminent and ongoing threat, eric holder resisted providing details, citing classified material, even though this leaked memo is unclassified. >> i can't necessarily get into th

and moves to the east. now, again, as we take our look here at the u.s., the rest of the country, we are dealing with what the weather channel is calling winter storm nemo, it is bringing in quite a snow, blizzard-like conditions. we're also looking at wet weather down through the gulf coast. we expect to see severe weather developing over the next 24 hours through central texas and making its way tomorrow on into the gulf coast. look for a lot of snow out through the rockies, plenty of sunshine through the central plains. temperatures are on the cool side through the southwest into southern california. chillier than usual. we also look for still leftover snow from michigan on into ohio. some parts of michigan, yes, in the last 24 hours, northern michigan, picking up 15 inches of snow, snarling traffic and bringing down power lines and we expect also to see plenty of sunshine through the southeast. we're going to have your local forecast in just a little bit, but first, this message.
